Cork City Passive House is the 3rd in our 9-part series. Completed in 2016, on a narrow urban site with poor solar access, the design incorporated a courtyard plan form, impacting upon the overall form factor. To compensate, robust detailing with thermal bridge reduction, identified how optimised U-Values could be achieved cost effectively. A very robust dwelling with exhaust air heat-pump technology, it performs to the PH standard for heat load throughout Ireland with minimal increases in demand North of the midlands. This project demonstrated how integrated stack ventilation and reduced solar gain in bedroom areas can optimise client comfort. It was the first Gold Certified Project under the Home Performance Index (IGBC), rewarding our holistic approach to delivering responsible design. BER: A1 (22.23 kWh/m2.a)
