4th in our series ‘Climate impact on Building Performance’ – Waterfall Passive House
The 4th in our 8-part series is our Waterfall Passive House, a rural project in Co. Cork completed in 2023. Fenestration placement responded to site constraints with a high hedgerow to the south, views to the west and privacy provision to the east and north, limiting solar access. It is interesting how this abruptly influences Annual Heat Demand but not Heat Load/comfort, should the project be located further north. Although with modest U-values we believe the excellent form factor and robust thermal bridge detailing contributes to the consistently low heat load characteristics. The property is provided with an exhaust air heat-pump and cost effective electric radiators offset by a PV array. BER: A1 (18.04 kWh/m2.a)
