Dripsey Passive House Achieves Certification!

Dripsey Passive House Achieves Certification!

We are delighted to announce that our Dripsey Passive House has achieved full Passive House Certification!

The project involved the renovation and energy upgrade of an existing 1840s stone dwelling, together with the construction of new extensions. The project incorporated a range of materials and construction methods, carefully selected to address the challenges of upgrading a traditional stone building while achieving the stringent requirements of the Passive House standard.

The existing dwelling was upgraded using Glapor cellular glass gravel, Gutex Thermoroom wood fibre insulation with Diasen Diathonite regularisation and Lime Green Solo lime render internally, SecilVit cork external insulation, and cellulose insulation at attic level. The new extensions were constructed using externally insulated GGBS masonry and a timber frame, stick-built on site.

Achieving an exceptional airtightness result of 0.42 ac/h was no mean feat, particularly given the integration of the existing stone structure with new construction. This result, together with the achievement of full Passive House Certification, is a testament to the skill, workmanship and dedication of the main contractor, Whitebon Developments, and all the subcontractors involved.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone who contributed to this achievement!
