This 3-bedroom Passive House dwelling is located north of Midleton in East Cork. The site affords extensive views to the south and southwest across rolling hills and fields.
The dwelling is designed in two sections: an east / west oriented element, running parallel to the road contains the main living accommodation. A perpendicular north / south oriented element contains the bedroom accommodation. A glazed ‘pop-out’ at the knuckle between the two, provides an additional southwest facing seating area off the entrance hallway.
Taking a cue from the abundant roadside / garden walls in the area, the east and north elevations are designed with minimal openings and with extended landscape walls, generating a more private façade to the road and to the neighbours to the north.
The south and west elevations by contrast, are more open with large areas of glazing, taking advantage of views and solar aspect and with access to the private garden area.
This project is due for completion in Winter 2024.
